Abstract
Eritrea gained independence after a 30 year long and bloody war in 1991. During the armed struggle 30-40 percent of the fighters were women. As a
result of their great contribution to the country's independence, the new constitution guaranteed women's access to all the available resources. With this in mind this study is conducted to identify the extent to which women are involved in the household economy, apart from their roles as political participants.
