Abstract

A brief historic story of a small town in the Eastern Cape and a compilation of pictures of the historic places and monumental buildings. Alice was the capital of the district of Victoria East in the Cape province situated on the main railway line between East London and Cookhouse junction about 80 miles from East London and 42 miles from King Williams Town. This is an interesting read about Alice in the early 1800s, the Thyume Massacre, Municipal records, Parish Church of St. Bartholomew, The Roman Catholic Mission and of course Lovedale and South African Native College which is formerly known as the University of Fort Hare.
