Abstract
This volume reproduces The Cape Town Gazette and African Advertiser and its Dutch counterpart, Kaapsche Stads Courant en Afrikaansche Berigter, covering the period from 16 August 1800 to 19 October 1801. The publication provides an important source for the study of the social, political, economic and cultural history of the Cape Colony during the early nineteenth century. Issued as part of the South African Library Reprint Series and edited by Howard Pim, it preserves one of the earliest newspapers published in South Africa.
