Question 1 (50 marks) requires an essay addressing Emma Bedford's "AntiBodies: Misrepresentations of the body in South African art discourse." Students must discuss Bedford's critique of Enwezor's "Reframing the Black Subject" and her suggestions for proper representation of black women in the South African contemporary art world. Question 2 (50 marks) requires an essay addressing Okwui Enwezor's (1997) "Reframing the black subject ideology and fantasy in contemporary South African representation." Students must identify and discuss the key ideas, concepts, and arguments presented by Enwezor, including his conclusion arguments, and provide examples of artworks discussed in the paper. The examination assesses students' ability to critically analyze and discuss scholarly texts within the field of the philosophy of art, with a specific focus on representation, identity, and politics in South African contemporary art.Item History of Art: HAR 122, Supplementary Examinations November 2024(University of Fort Hare, 2024-11) Mama, L.V.J.; Potelwa, S.; Bezuidenhout, N.Item Museum Studies: MSM 321, Supplementary Examinations November 2024(University of Fort Hare, 2024-11) Mama, L.V.J.; Potelwa, S.; Makhubalo, S.Item Arts Policy & Management: APM 321, Degree Examinations October/November 2024(University of Fort Hare, 2024-11) Mama, L.V.J.; Potelwa, S.; Bezuidenhout, N.Item History of Art: HAR 222, Degree Examinations October/November 2024(University of Fort Hare, 2024-11) Mama, L.V.J.; Potelwa, S.; Bezuidenhout, N.Item Visual Literacy, VAR 121, Degree Examinations October/November 2024(University of Fort Hare, 2024-11) Mama, L.V.J.; Potelwa, S.; Ncayo, S.Item A Critical Appraisal of P.T. Mtuze's Short Stories(University of Fort Hare, 1997) Nguna, Nonzwakazi Beauty NomfundoThe main purpose of this study is to investigate critically Mtuze's short stories. It has been undertaken because, while the treatment of the genre of the short story is popular in that it is written and read in Africa, literary scholars have largely ignored its existence. The aim of this study is to clarify some of the difficult aspects in interpreting the author's intentions which lie beneath the various literary theories and aspects such as theme, plot, character, language and style and theme.Item Die Dramas Van Adam Small as Sosio-Politieke Kommentaar(University of Fort Hare, 1996-11) Dumakude, Mdunyiswa EligiusIn Kanna hy k6 hystoe Adam Small brings to light the misfortunes of a family of the so-called "coloureds" which adopts a "welfare-son" by the name of Kanna. The host family does not flinch from any sacrifice so as to empower him educationally and at the same time pinning its hopes on this little mushrooming boy. After becoming a fully-fledged engineer overseas, the family expects him to return home - his motherland, South Africa, to perform a sacrificial function by "liberating'' his family i.e. community from the bondage of apartheid. This "messianic hope", however, eventually ends in an anti-climax of despair and disillusionment. The Mosaic saviour betrays his own people, despite all the individual and concerted efforts to get him educated, by not even endeavouring once to fulfil the expected Mosaic task, but by· leaving his "roots" - the South African soil - once and for all for greener pastures overseas.Item Arts Policy & Management: APM 311, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06)Item History of Art: HAR 311, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06)Item Philosophy of Art: POA 411, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06)Item Visual Arts Literacy: VAR 111, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06) Mama, L.V.J.; Ncayo, S.Item Museums Studies: MSM 311, Honours Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06)Item History of Art: HAR 111, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06) Mama, L.V.J.; Nombungu, A.Item History of Art: HAR 211, Degree Examinations June 2023(University of Fort Hare, 2023-06)Item Arts Policy and Management: APM 321, Degree Examinations November 2017(University of Fort Hare, 2017-11) Baloyi, M.S.; Letsatsi, R.S.; Xakaza, M.Item Arts Policy and Management: VAR 121, Supplementary Examinations January 2019(University of Fort Hare, 2019-01) Baloyi, M.S.; Sobopha, M.; Mama, T.
