This day the U.P. presbytery of Kaffaria met here after engaging in devotional exercises. The Rev. Tiyo Soga, moderator being absent, the Rev. J.J. Cunning took his place and opened the meeting with prayer. The roll was then called present, the Rev, Mepis Cunning, Charles Davidson, Selate and Sedi ministries and others. The year 1880 has had some special features of its own some pleasant and encouraging, and others quite the reverse. The amount of work done during the year in all the departments has been a fair average, while it can hardly be said that the year has been one of special activity or development.Item The Christian Express(University of Fort Hare, 1877) The New Outlook Volume 7There have been revivals in the church from the very beginning of the world. There is a sense in which the progress of the church may be said to be by a series of revivals. It must be so, for human energy flags in every pursuit. Daily toil is an apparent exception, but men are impelled to it by the dread of poverty and hunger and thirst as to prevent men from falling into a state of remissness, so that times of reviving are in a sense necessary.Item The Christian Express(University of Fort Hare, 1884) The New Outlook Volume 14We have again to present a summary of the Report of a year's work at Lovedale in all its different sections. Compared with the previous year or years there is, in some matters, little change, a shade of difference in the numbers, these being a little lower in some divisions and higher in others- the gross number being slightly larger: a great advance in the results as tested by Government and other Examinations, and by standard reached; and a great falling off in most of the trades department.
