    The closing meeting of the Institution was held in the New Hall on Thursday 16 December. Campbell Douglas, Esq., of Glasgow occupied the chair and distributed the prizes. He also addressed the student, pupils and Native visitors, and Europeans present. He said that the name of Lovedale had been familiar to him from his earliest days, its establishment having been often referred to in his father's manse in Renfrewshire.
