    The purpose of this report is to illustrate in greater detail the research that has been undertaken into a particular land conflict. The report also demonstrates the potential value of research, not only in identifying the position in rural areas but also in advancing land reform. This material has been passed to the regional government in greater detail and has informed the Border Rural Committee's efforts to broker land transfers. The reader is also referred to Appendices 3 and 5 of this Report (see reference), as well as Chapter 6 of the Eastern Cape Regional Overview.
