The Fort Hare Institute of Technology (FHIT), established in line with the UFH Strategic Plan (UFH-SP2000) and linked to the Faculty of Science and Agriculture, was created to promote innovation, excellence, and the development of applied scientists equipped to compete in the global economy. FHIT leads the University’s Renewable Energy Research Niche Area and focuses on four key interdisciplinary research themes—Solar Energy, Bio Energy, Power Electronics and Smart Energy Systems, and Sustainable Energy Studies—in collaboration with departments such as Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Microbiology, and the Faculty of Law. This collection in DSpace preserves and disseminates the Institute’s research publications, technical reports, and conference papers, supporting postgraduate education, training, and research while fostering technological innovation and sustainable development.
