| dc.description.abstract | A Kaffir-English Dictionary by Rev. Albert Kropf is a bilingual reference work compiled from decades of linguistic research among Xhosa-speaking communities in South Africa. Drawing on earlier vocabularies and missionary language studies, the dictionary was developed to support the study, preservation, and translation of the Xhosa language. Published by the Lovedale Mission Press in 1899, the work includes an appendix of additional words collected during its preparation and remains an important source for the historical study of Xhosa linguistics and missionary scholarship in southern Africa. | |
