The study seeks to examine the current legal framework that regulate Gender-based violence GBV in South Africa with the aim of identifying existing gaps and proposing appropriate solutions to this issue. The study will also employ a comparative analysis of the South African GBV-related legal framework to that of other jurisdictions, including India, Canada and the United States. This comparative analysis seeks to highlight areas where South African law can improve and better combat GBV. This study ultimately provides recommendations to develop South Africa’s legal framework to ensure a more comprehensive approach in addressing GBV.
