dc.description.abstractThis supplementary examination paper for IPS123F, "Introduction to Fields of Industrial Psychology and Human Resources Management," assesses students' understanding across various core areas of the discipline. The paper is three hours in duration and totals 100 marks. It is divided into two sections: Section A comprises 45 multiple-choice questions, covering topics such as the foundational areas informing HRM (e.g., psychology), factors impacting organizations (e.g., legislation, technology, globalization), the HRM value chain (e.g., organizational behavior management, talent management), onboarding, strategies, discrimination, relevant South African labour legislation (e.g., LRA, EEA, SDA, National Minimum Wage Act), skills development (e.g., WSP, Learnership), leadership in various contexts (e.g., virtual environments, transformational, servant, African leadership, Blake and Mouton grid), research methodologies (e.g., descriptive vs. inferential statistics, research steps, validity), and psychological health and maladjustment (e.g., classical approaches, levels of happiness, stress-related disorders, cultural value dimensions).
