dc.description.abstractWe deal elsewhere with the recent unexpected turn of affairs in Natal. As we stated in our last issue, the news from that colony during the greater part of November was mor reassuring than it had been for a long time. Neither the neighbouring Colonies, nor the great majority of the people in Natal itself were in any way prepared for the sudden mobilization of the troops and the expedition on a war footing into Zululand which startled South Africa at the close of the month. The Natal Government having satisfied itself that a second rebellion was being enkindled, had apparently determined by a coup de main to force the hands of the ringleaders
