Ruth is a professional artist and the Director of the Imbali Literacy Art Project in Johannesburg. She visited Jackson Hlungwani at New Jerusalem in 1998 with a group of artists from Johannesburg. During her visit she found that BMW (South Africa), in agreement with Hlungwani, had removed all the sculptures from New Jerusalem. The sculptures were sold through exhibitions.
